System requirements#
Prerequisite - minimal system requirements#
Parrot Sphinx exclusively runs on those Linux 64-bit distributions:
Debian 10 (buster)
Ubuntu 20.04 (focal)
Debian 11 (bullseye)
Ubuntu 22.04 (jammy)
Linux kernel version:
5.8 or higher.
Minimal resources:
8-core CPU @ 2GHz
8GB DDR
Nvidia GPU with 2GB GDDR (with up-to-date Nvidia drivers)
15 GB of free disk space
Important
You must disable the UEFI Secure Boot on your workstation. Parrot Sphinx will not start otherwise.
Minimal system requirements may not be sufficient to enable all features of Parrot Sphinx. This is particularly true if you enable the front camera (activated by default) or if you use Wifi to access the simulated drone from a smartphone application.
Recommended system requirements#
12-core CPU @ 2.5GHz
16GB DDR
Nvidia RTX 2070 or better GPU with 8GB GDDR (with up-to-date Nvidia drivers)
30GB of free disk space, SSD
“low-latency” kernel variant (e.g.
5.13.0-27-lowlatency
)
Simulations run processes that may behave incorrectly if a “good” real time reliability (1 ms tolerance) of the system is not ensured. That’s the reason why the use of a Linux kernel built with low latency options is encouraged.
Note
You must use up-to-date Nvidia proprietary drivers instead of the generic drivers of your distribution.
